We found it to be smooth, responsive engine that provides strong acceleration performance. This is great for cruising around town, and works well in traffic stop-and-go. Strong torque of a V-6 means not having to downshift to accelerate.
To improve fuel economy, three of the six cylinders under light loads will turn off and just go along for the ride, although the driver can not say all of this to happen. Fuel economy EPA combined cycle is 23 mpg, or 22 mpg with all-wheel drive. It was not quite as good as the Volvo XC60 with the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that is rated 26 mpg combined with front-wheel drive, and RDX requires premium gasoline, while the XC60 uses regular gas.

Safety ratings are not complete for the 2016 RDX, but some of last year’s ranking very well carried.
